Camping at Loughcrew Megalithic Center

Camping at Le Cheile has never been better. The official campsite is just a few mins outside the market town of Oldcastle, set in the rolling hills of Sliabh na Caillaigh. Their traditional Irish setting is nestled in the heart of Loughcrew’s Ancient Passage Tombs. They provide tours, accommodation and information on the Loughcrew area in Co. Meath. A short hill walk to the highest point in the Boyne Valley will have you fresh as a daisy for the following night’s antics. Unravel the mystery of the tombs, check out Maggie Heaney’s Heritage Cottage or perk up with a Bewley’s coffee in Nellies Kitchen.

Loughcrew’s Ancient Passage Tombs

The Loughcrew Cairns at Slieve na Calliagh have a long history stretching back over 5,000 years. They are older than Newgrange, the pyramids in Egypt and Stonhenge. The legends and stories that surround the tombs have kept them well preserved. Just a short hill walk from the campsite you will find yourself at these Neolithic monuments which stand at the highest point in the Boyne Valley. From here you will experience panoramic views of Ireland. Unravel the mystery on a FREE guided tour with us over the Le Cheile weekend.
