Davy Watson is a singer / songwriter / musician from Belfast. He picked up the guitar while quite young and from the start had an interest in writing songs and performing ‘live’. Playing Bass, Davy joined his first semi-pro band at the age of 14 and by his late teens had travelled the length and breadth of Ireland gigging in just about every venue there was to be had. Along the way he opened for Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats at Dalymount Park and supported Philip Lynott on his ‘Solo in Soho’ Irish tour.
With a growing love for Rhythm & Blues, Davy moved to America to experience the music first hand. While there he played with many different and varied artists from Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard) to Jack Lancaster (Blodwyn Pig, Brand X) to Hazel O’Connor to Madonna and was produced by Shel Talmy (Who, Kinks). One of his songs, Only Love, was used as the theme tune for a ‘prime time’ TV series – Live Shot, on CBS. He was also a featured artist on KLOS radio in Los Angeles.
Now back home, Davy has toured with Jack L, Henry McCullough and Gráinne Duffy among others, playing at Glastonbury festival and most major festivals and venues throughout Europe. He is now performing as a ‘solo’ artist with plans to release an album in 2016.
Davy Watson plays Creans Stage on Monday August 1st
